Box Score CHICAGO, Ill. - The Elmhurst College women's basketball team snapped a two-game slide by knocking off North Park University 65-51.

Elmhurst (15-4, 6-2 CCIW) never trailed int he contest, racing out to a quick 15-6 lead midway through the opening half. The Bluejays extended their lead to 34-24 at the half.

North Park (8-11, 2-6 CCIW) pulled to within seven points early in the second half, but a 19-6 run by Elmhurst gave the Bluejays a 20-point cushion with just under seven minutes to play. The Bluejays cruised over the final seven minutes of the game to earn the 14-point victory.

Four Bluejays reached double figures in scoring in a balanced Elmhurst attack. Megan Ney led the charge for Elmhurst, recording a double-double with a team-leading 16 points (6-of-7 shooting) and a game-high 11 rebounds. Tess Godhardt added 12 points while Fiona McMahon came off the bench to score 11. Jordan Maisto added 10 points while Meghan Merklein finished with nine. Devin Vaughn added five points and a game-high eight assists.

The Bluejays shot 50.0 percent (24-of-48) from the floor and were a solid 16-of-21 (76.2 percent) from the foul line. North Park finished the game shooting only 35.8 percent (19-of-53) from the floor, including just 22.2 percent (2-of-9) from beyond the arc.

Roxanne Jones paced the Vikings in the loss, scoring a game-high 19 points and pulling down six rebounds. Sarah Peterson added nine points and six rebounds while Shaina Yalda and Dana Christensen tallied seven points apiece for North Park.

Elmhurst hosts North Central College on Wednesday, February 1.
