Tess Godhardt scored a career-high 22 points to lead the Elmhurst College women's basketball team to their fourth straight win, a 56-35 victory over Augustana College at R.A. Faganel Hall.
Elmhurst improved to 13-2 overall with the win and remained unbeaten in CCIW play (4-0). Augustana dropped to 9-6 overall and 1-3 in league action.
With the score tied at nine early in the first half, the Bluejays ripped off a 12-2 run to open up a 10-point cushion.
Meghan Merklein scored seven of the Bluejays' 12 points in the run. The Bluejays led 30-18 at the break.
Augustana pulled to within eight points in the opening minutes of the second half, but the Bluejays answered back with seven straight points to open up a 15-point cushion. Augustana never got closer than a 10-point deficit the rest of the way as the Bluejays pulled away down the stretch to come away with the 21-point victory.
Elmhurst finished the contest shooting 43.5 percent from the floor (20-of-46). The Bluejays held Augustana to only a 21.3 shooting performance. The Vikings hit only 10-of-47 shots from the floor, and were only 1-of-9 (11.1 percent) from beyond the arc.
Godhardt set career-highs in both scoring (22) and rebounding (12), recording her second double-double of the season. She added a pair of steals in the victory.
Meghan Merklein scored 14 for the Bluejays while also totaling four assists, two blocks, and a pair of steals.
Jordan Maisto added eight points and three assists for the Bluejays.
Gianna Pecora, Kristina Howard, and Chaney Tambling scored seven points apiece to lead the Vikings in scoring.
Elmhurst travels to Millikin University on Wednesday, January 18.
