ELMHURST, Ill. - The Elmhurst College women's soccer team dropped to 1-1 on the season following a 1-0 shutout loss to Kalamazoo College at Langhorst Field.
Kalamazoo's Jordan Lewis finished a breakaway rush by tapping home a goal in the 83rd minute off of a Jakie Short feed to account for the game's only goal.
The evenly-matched contest featured seven shots apiece for each team and no corner kicks for either squad.
Elmhurst's best scoring chance came in the opening half when
Amy Baschen's shot hit the crossbar. The rebound shot from
Morgan Geimer was saved by Kalamazoo's Courtney McCoy.
Maddie Fitzpatrick took the loss in goal for Elmhurst despite allowing just one goal. Fitzpatrick recorded two saves. McCoy and Meredith Miller combined for the shutout win for Kalamazoo. Each Hornets' goalkeeper tallied one save.
Elmhurst travels to Lawrence University on Wednesday, September 7.
