ELMHURST, Ill. - The Elmhurst College women's soccer team won its sixth consecutive contest by shutting out Knox College 8-0 at Langhorst Field.
Heather De Moss,
Morgan Geimer, and
Shelley Shapasian each scored two goals to lead the Bluejays' in the victory.
Elmhurst (7-1) jumped on the scoreboard less than four minutes into the game when De Moss found the back of the net on a feed from
Valerie Wesley. Less than a minute later, De Moss struck again, scoring off passes from
Amy Baschen and
Stephanie Berryman. Geimer scored off a
Jess Belmonte assist in the 21st minute to give the Bluejays a 3-0 advantage. Geimer knocked home a feed from Wesley in the 28th minute to give Elmhurst a four-goal cushion.
Amy Baschen tucked home a pass from Geimer in the 37th minute to give Elmhurst a 5-0 lead at halftime.
Shapasian had a hand in all three Elmhurst goals in the second half. She scored in the 63rd minute off of a feed from
Stephanie Thomson. Less than two minutes later, she blasted home a shot off of a Berryman assist to give Elmhurst a 7-0 lead. Shapasian fed the ball to Thomson, who knocked the ball over the head of Knox goalkeeper Rachel Koene and into the net for the Bluejays' final goal of the game.
Elmhurst outshot Knox 51-2 and had a 12-0 edge in corner kicks.
Maddie Fitzpatrick and
Joelle Kaupu combined for the shutout in goal for the Bluejays.
Elmhurst hosts North Park University on Saturday (October 1) at Berens Park.
