CHICAGO, Ill. - The Elmhurst College women's basketball team dropped to 9-13 overall following a 75-50 loss at North Park University.
North Park (9-14, 3-9 CCIW) sizzled in the first half, shooting a red-hot 81.8 percent from beyond the arc. The Vikings hit nine of their first 10 attempts from downtown while racing out to a 29-point advantage. The Vikings built a 51-24 lead at halftime.
Elmhurst never came closer than an 18-point deficit in the second half, as North Park established a commanding 33-point cushion and cruised to the 25-point victory.
Elmhurst struggled with its offense the entire game, shooting only 25.5 percent (13-of-51) from the field, including just 19.0 percent (4-of-21) from downtown.
Meghan Fitts came off the bench to total a season-high 16 points and eight rebounds.
Megan Ney added 14 points and seven boards for the Bluejays.
North Park finished the contest shooting 44.4 percent (28-of-63) from the floor, including a whopping 73.3 percent (11-of-15) from three-point range. Dana Christiansen led the Vikings by pouring in 17 points on 7-of-11 shooting. Sarah Peterson was a perfect 5-of-5 from long distance to finish with 15 points. Lyndsey Thompson added 10 points for the Vikings.
The Bluejays turned the ball over 20 times, resulting in 24 North Park points.
Elmhurst hosts North Central College on Tuesday, February 15.
