ELMHURST, Ill. - The Elmhurst College wrestling team, ranked 12th in the latest NWCA poll, improved to 3-0 in dual meet competition with a 29-12 victory over Augustana College.

The Bluejays began the day with a 6-0 lead after Mark Johnson received a forfeit at 125 pounds. Dalton Bullard put Elmhurst up 10-0 by scoring a 13-1 major decision over Steven Poffenberger. Jake Denhof followed with a 16-2 major victory over Greg Gogonas at 141 pounds.

Augustana (1-1), ranked 27th in the latest NWCA poll, got on the scoreboard at 149 pounds when Alberto Quiros upended the Bluejays' Ryan Earley 7-3.

Mike Grice put the Bluejays on top 17-3 midway through the dual when he defeated David Tessiatore 8-1 at 157 pounds. The Vikings' Matt Burns toppled Elmhurst's Yousef Al-Ghoul 8-4 at 165 pounds.

Elmhurst scored back-to-back wins by pin at 174 pounds and 184 pounds. Danny Balderas, ranked fourth in the latest NWCA poll, pinned Connor Cummings in 2:14 at 174 pounds to give Elmhurst a 23-6 lead. Joe Rau, ranked third in the NWCA poll, followed by pinning Seth Whan in 2:52 to put the Bluejays up 29-6.

Augustana closed out the dual with back-to-back victories. Jordan Richardson toppled Danny Varags 10-3 at 197 pounds. The Vikings' John Scraidt defeated Elmhurst's Mike McNeil 8-6 in overtime at 285 pounds.
