ROCK ISLAND, Ill. - The Elmhurst College women's soccer team punched its ticket to the CCIW Tournament for the first time since the 2003 season by blanking Augustana College 1-0 in Rock Island.
Elmhurst controlled the tempo of the game, outshooting Augustana (11-7-1, 4-3-0 CCIW) 21-7 in the game, including a 10-0 edge in the second half.
Amy Baschen accounted for the game's only goal in the 56th minute when she scored off of an assist from
Shannon Pimmel.
Maddie Fitzpatrick recorded her second consecutive shutout in goal by stopping the only shot she faced. Kayla Radloff took the loss in net for Augustana, allowing one goal while recording nine saves.
With the win, Elmhurst improved to 13-3-1 overall and 4-2-1 in the CCIW, clinching the third spot in the upcoming conference tournament. The Bluejays will face second-seeded Illinois Wesleyan University on Wednesday, November 1. Top-seeded Wheaton College will fourth-seeded Augustana College in the other semifinal contest.
