ELMHURST, Ill. - The Elmhurst College women's soccer team had its six-game winning streak snapped in a 2-1 loss to North Park University.
Elmhurst (7-2, 0-1 CCIW) outshot North Park 15-3, but North Park (4-5-1, 2-0 CCIW) made the most of their three shots, scoring twice and hitting the cross bar with their shot.
Elmhurst struck first, scoring just 5:38 into the match when a deflected ball bounced to
Heather De Moss in front of the net. De Moss buried the point blank shot into the net giving Elmhurst a 1-0 advantage.
North Park's first goal off of a direct kick from 35 yards out. Katrina Dekirmendjian's shot bounced into the box and bounced over the head of Elmhurst keeper
Maddie Fitzpatrick and into the back of the net.
North Park scored the game winner in the 79th minute when Anika Johnson beat Fitzpatrick at the top of the box and tucked the ball into the back of the net.
Elmhurst hosts Marian University on October 5.
