ELMHURST, Ill. - The Elmhurst College women's soccer team moved to 5-1-1 on the season after playing Adrian College to a 2-2 draw at Langhorst Field.
The Bluejays dominated the opening half, outshooting Adrian 9-2. The Bluejays grabbed a 1-0 lead in the 19th minute when
Valerie Wesley scored off a
Biba Beckwith assist.
Adrian (5-1-2) evened the score just three minutes into the second half when Samantha Bono headed home a goal off a pass from Sam Barker.
The tie was short-lived, as Elmhurst reclaimed the lead four minutes later when
Kelsey Caldwell found the back of the net off of a feed from Wesley.
Adrian evened the score with just 32 seconds left on the clock when Barker tallied an unassisted goal to send the game into overtime.
Elmhurst outshot Adrian 8-0 in the two overtime periods but the Bluejays were unable to score the game-winner. Elmhurst had a chance to end the game in the first overtime, but
Erin Baschen's penalty kick was saved by Adrian's Chayna Wallace.
The Bluejays outshot the Bulldogs 22-9 and had a 6-4 advantage in corner kicks.
Wallace recorded 11 saves in net for Adrian while
Allison Korbel stopped six shots in goal for the Bluejays.
Elmhurst hosts Carthage College at Langhorst Field on Saturday, September 25.
