Women's Basketball Team Topples North Park

ELMHURST, Ill. -
The Elmhurst College women's basketball team defeated North Park University 75-68 to improve to 15-8 overall and 8-4 in the CCIW.

Elmhurst led from start to finish, never train the contest. The Bluejays led 36-25 at halftime and opened up a 20-point second-half lead before North Park pulled to within seven points in the closing seconds.

The Bluejays dominated the Vikings on the glass, outrebounding North Park 47-26. Elmhurst pulled down a whopping 22 offensive rebounds, leading to 24 second-chance points.

Lyndsie Long led Elmhurst and all scorers with 30 points while shooting 11-of-22 from the floor. Long knocked down four 3-pointers, becoming Elmhurst's all-time career leader in 3-pointers with 160. She now stands just 11 points away from becoming Elmhurst's career leading scorer.  

Megan Ney recorded a double-double for the Bluejays, finishing with 13 points and a game-high 11 rebounds. Meghan Merklein added 13 points and seven rebounds for Elmhurst while Kelsey Monroe finished with eight points. Maggie McTeague pulled down seven rebounds for the Bluejays.

North Park was led by Kam Acress's 27 points. Dana Christensen added 14 points and six boards while Sarah Peterson finished with 12 points. 


Elmhurst shot 43.1 percent (28-of-65) from the field, including 54.5 percent (6-of-11) from beyond the arc.  North Park shot 42.4 percent (25-of-59) from the floor but only 20.0 percent (3-of-15) from long distance.
