DECATUR, Ill. - The Elmhurst College women's soccer team saw its chances of qualifying for the CCIW Tournament dashed in a 2-1 loss at Millikin University.
Elmhurst (9-5-1, 2-4-0 CCIW) needed a win to keep its CCIW Tournament chances alive, but Millikin (12-3-1, 4-2-0 CCIW) topped the Bluejays with a pair of second-half goals despite being outshot 21-11 by Elmhurst.
The Bluejays outshot the Big Blue 11-3 in the opening half but Elmhurst couldn't find the back of the net.
All three goals came in less than a four minute span in the second half. Millikin's Allison Horne scored off of a rebound shot from Birttany Belrichard in the 55th minute to put the Big Blue on top 1-0.
Elmhurst quickly evened the match less than three minutes later as
Erin Baschen scored her third goal of the season off of a
Valerie Wesley assist.
The tie didn't last long as Horne struck for her second goal of the game just 42 seconds later to give the Big Blue the victory.
Allison Korbel took the loss in net for Elmhurst. She allowed two goals and recorded five saves in net for the Bluejays. Natalie Robertaccio earned the win in goal for Millikin, allowing just one goal and recording eight saves.
Elmhurst closes out the 2010 season by hosting Augustana College at Berens Park on Saturday, October 30.
