ELMHURST, Ill. - A pair of second half goals in less than a minute helped the Elmhurst College women's soccer team score a 3-1 victory over North Central College at Berens Park.
Kelsey Caldwell staked Elmhurst to a 1-0 first half lead when she blasted home a feed from
Valerie Wesley.
The Bluejays used a pair of second-half goals in less than a minute to put the game out of reach.
Sarah Harvey gave Elmhurst a 2-0 lead in the 56th minute when she bent a corner kick into the net. Less than a minute later, the Bluejays were fouled in the goal box setting up an Elmhurst penalty kick. Wesley converted on the corner kick to put the Bluejays on top 3-0.
North Central's Nora Wessels cut into Elmhurst's lead with a goal in the 79th minute, but the Bluejays kept the Cardinals off the scoreboard for the remainder of the game to earn the 3-1 triumph.
Elmhurst outshot the Cardinals 19-10 in the contest.
Allison Korbel earned the win in net for the Bluejays, recording five saves and allowing just one goal. Amy Frassini took the loss for the Cardinals, allowing three goals and recording eight saves.
Elmhurst hosts Illinois Wesleyan University at Langhorst Field on Saturday, October 16.
