GALESBURG, Ill. - The Elmhurst College women's soccer team rank upped its record to 7-2-1 on the season by hammering Knox College 7-0.
The Bluejays scored three times in the opening half and added four tallies in the game's second half to upend Knox (6-8) 7-0. Elmhurst dominated the game from start to finish, outshooting Knox 29-1 in the contest. The Prairie Fire did not manage a shot on goal for the entire contest.
Lindsay Carlson started the scoring in the 16th minute when she scored off a feed from
Valerie Wesley.
Katie Baschen made it 2-0 less than two minutes later she found the back of the net off of a
Kelsey Caldwell assist. Wesley staked Elmhurst to a 3-0 first-half lead in the 24th minute as
Amy Baschen and
Erin Baschen each collected assists on the tally.
Carlson scored her second goal of the game from a Wesley pass less than two minutes into the second half, putting the Bluejays up 4-0 in the process. Caldwell connected from a Carlson pass in the 55th minute and
Sarah Harvey added an unassisted goal in the 58th minute to give the Bluejays a 6-0 advantage.
Biba Beckwith and
Anna Paul both recorded assists on
Morgan Geimer's goal in the 61st minute.
Allison Korbel and Carlson combined in net to earn the shutout for the Bluejays. Korbel played the game's first 78 minutes while Carlson played the game's final 12 minutes. Neither keeper had to record a save for the Bluejays.
Elmhurst hosts North Central College at Berens Park on Wednesday, October 13, at 5:00 p.m.
