ELMHURST, Ill. - A pair of goals in the opening five minutes of play propelled the Elmhurst College women's soccer team to a 3-0 win over Monmouth College.

Elmhurst (3-1-0) got on the scoreboard just 1:04 into the game when Erin Baschen blasted home a free kick from 30 yards out. Just over three minutes later, Elmhurst took a 2-0 lead after Valerie Wesley found the back of the net off a feed from Lindsay Carlson.

The Bluejays led 2-0 at halftime and tacked on an insurance goal in the second half when Courtney Constantino netted her second goal of the season off a pass from Wesley.

Elmhurst outshot Monmouth (1-3-0) 13-8 on the day, including a 9-6 shots on goal advantage.

Allison Korbel recorded her second shutout of the season by stopping six Monmouth shots and keeping the Fighting Scots off the scoreboard.

Elmhurst hosts Lakeland College on Monday, September 14, at Berens Park. The game is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m.
