Bluejay Women Fall to Top-Ranked Titans

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Elmhurst College women's basketball team slipped to 10-7 overall and 3-3 in CCIW play following an 87-50 loss at number-one ranked Illinois Wesleyan University.

Elmhurst got off to a sluggish start shooting only 1-of-10 from the floor. Meanwhile, Illinois Wesleyan (17-0, 7-0 CCIW) raced out to a 46-22 halftime lead. The Titans continued to pull away in the second half, opening up a 40-point lead, and cruising to the 87-50 win.

The Bluejays shot only 30.8 percent (20-of-65) from the floor, and were ice cold from beyond the arc, hitting only 9.1 percent (1-of-11) from 3-point range. The Titans shot 53.1 percent (34-of-64) from the field, including 37.5 percent (9-of-24) from long distance.

Brittany Bobruk and Meghan Merklein scored eight points apiece to pace the Bluejays in the loss. Anna Randazzo added six points while Megan Ney added five points in the loss.

The Titans were led by Christina Solari's near triple-double. Solari totaled 13 points, 10 assists and eight rebounds. Claire Sheehan added a game-high 16 points in the win. Kylie Castens came off the bench to score 10.

Elmhurst plays host to Millikin University on Saturday, January 31.
