ELMHURST, Ill. - The Elmhurst College women's soccer team scored its first shutout of the season by blanking Eureka College 5-0. Elmhurst ran its record to 4-2 with the win while Eureka slipped to 3-3.
Courtney Constantino (Strongsville, Ohio/H.S.) paced the Bluejays attack with a pair of goals.
Sarah Harvey (Naperville/Waubonsie Valley) started the scoring for the Bluejays with a goal in the fifth minute. Harvey scored off of assists from Valerie Wesley (Chula Vista, Calif/Academy of Our Lady of Peace) and Mary Caputo (Decatur/Eisenhower).
Constantino scored her first goal less than a minute later off an assist from Wesley to put Elmhurst up 2-0. Constantino made it 3-0 before halftime with a goal in the 40th minute.
Laura Valgiusti (Lombard/Glenbard East) scored her first goal of the season off a corner kick from Erin Baschen (Downers Grove/South) in the 47th minute.
With less than two seconds left to play, Anna Paul (Des Plaines/Maine West) netted a goal off an Emily Kisiolek (Howards Grove, Wis./H.S.) assist.
Elmhurst outshot Eureka 34-1 and had an 8-0 edge on corner kicks.
Jessica Eberle (Bloomington, Ind./North) stopped the only shot she faced in goal to earn Elmhurst's first shutout of the season.
Elmhurst plays host to Concordia University-Chicago on Sunday, September 14.
