ELMHURST, Ill. - The Elmhurst College women's soccer team ran its record to 3-2 on the season following a 3-2 win over Kalamazoo College.
Courtney Constantino (Strongsville, Ohio/H.S.) netted a pair of goals to pace the Bluejays in the win.
Elmhurst controlled the tempo for the majority of the first half but Kalamazoo struck first in the 21st minute when Julia Schroeder connected on a blast to put the Hornets up 1-0.
Elmhurst answered back in the 31st minute when Constantino scored off a feed from
Valerie Wesley (Chula Vista, Calif./Academy of Our Lady of Peace).
Elmhurst grabbed the lead less than two minutes later when Wesley found
Sarah Harvey (Naperville/Waubonsie Valley) open off a cross. Harvey's second goal of the season gave the Bluejays a 2-1 lead at halftime.
Elmhurst made it 3-1 in the 57th minute when
Cassie Giese (Batavia/H.S.) sent in a long ball that was headed by
Kelsey Caldwell (Plainfield/South) to an open Constantino. Constantino's second goal of the game gave the Bluejays a two-goal advantage.
Kalamazoo closed to within a goal in the 83rd minute when Rachel Pitzer scored on a long blast from beyond the box.
Elmhurst outshot Kalamazoo 17-5 in the contest, including a 13-4 shots on goal advantage.
Jessica Eberle (Bloomington, Ind./North) recorded two saves in goal for the Bluejays. Taylor Comiskey recorded 10 saves in net for Kalamazoo.
Elmhurst hosts Eureka College on Saturday, September 13, at 3:00 p.m.
