Erik Guta is entering his,16th year as the head coach,of the women's track and field team.,

Guta, who also coaches the women's cross country team at Elmhurst, has coached five All-Americans in track and five in cross country.

In 2014, Guta guided the Bluejays to a sixth place finish at both the CCIW Indoor and Outdoor Championships. Elmhurst track and field athletes garnered six all-conference honors between the two events. Alyssa Poremba won three individual CCIW Championships and earned a pair of All-America honors at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships.

In his 15 years as the Bluejays' cross country head coach, Guta has coached five All-Americans and 18 all-region runners. His runners have captured seven individual CCIW titles and,totaled 31 all-conference honors.,

Guta led the Bluejays to four straight CCIW cross country titles from 2000-2003, earning NCAA Midwest Regional Coach of the Year honors during the 2000 and 2002 season. The Bluejays earned a pair of top-10 national finishes during the 2000 and 2002 seasons.

Before becoming the head women's cross country and track and field coach, Guta spent,,six years (1994-1999) as an assistant coach for both the men's and women's squads.,

Guta is a graduate of Northern Illinois University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in corporate fitness/exercise physiology. He also holds a master's degree in corporate fitness from the University of Illinois-Chicago.

Guta was a member of the track club at NIU throughout his four years there, serving as its president for two years. An alumnus of Elmhurst's York High School, Guta was a member of the Duke's Class AA state-championship boy's cross country team.
