ELMHURST, Ill. - For the second time this season, Elmhurst's
Alex Harbert has been named the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin's men's tennis player of the week.
Harbert, a junior from St. Joseph, Mich., posted a 6-2 record last week while helping the Bluejays wrap up conference play undefeated. He toppled Wheaton's Ryan Kreis (6-7, 7-6, 6-1) on April 24 and then downed Augustana's Harald Olsson (6-3, 6-1) on April 25) at No. 1 singles. Ranked 16th in the region in singles play, Harbert defeated fifth-ranked Ben Shyklyar of Wisconsin-Whitewater on Monday.
Playing at No. 1 doubles with
Will Jung, Harbert also scored doubles victories over Wheaton (8-3), Augustana (8-3) and Coe (9-7).
Harbert leads the Bluejays into the CCIW Championships. The Bluejays hold the top seed are aiming for their first CCIW Championship since 1954.
