CHICAGO, Ill. - The Elmhurst College women's tennis team opened the spring portion of its schedule with a 9-0 shutout loss at the University of Chicago.

Elmhurst dropped to 1-8 on the season while Chicago moved to 2-0 with the victory.

The Maroons swept all six singles contests and all three doubles matches en route to the victory. Elmhurst managed to take just two games from the Maroons on the day.

Carmen VacaGuzman opened singles play for Chicago with a 6-0, 6-0 win over the Bluejays' Stephanie Ruff at No. 1 singles. Linden Li followed with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Nicole Darga at No. 2 singles. At No. 3 singles, Chicago's Kelsey McGillis defeated Elmhurst's Jordyn Hoover 6-0, 6-1. Chicago's Megan Tang handed Kayla Magiapane a 6-0, 6-0 defeat at No. 4 singles while the Maroon's Maggie Schumann blanked Emily Tarlini 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5 singles. Chicago's Anastasia Kaiser downed Elmhurst's Ragan Wilson 6-0, 6-1 at No. 6 singles.

In doubles play, Chicago's duo of Tang and VacaGuzman downed Hoover and Ruff 8-0 at No. 1 doubles. Li and Schumann blanked Magiapane and Jennifer Guenther 8-0 at No. 2 doubles. Kaiser and McGillis closed out doubles play with an 8-0 win over Darga and Tarlini at No. doubles.
