A 1984 graduate, Tom Bailey was a two-time NCAA Division III wrestling national qualifier at 167 pounds whose career mark of 108-28-2 ranks third in the Bluejays' record books. Bailey won 24 matches or more in each of his four years, including a 30-3 mark in 1981-82, when the 13-4 Bluejays set a school record for wins in a season. His 11 championships rank first all-time among Bluejays. Bailey was a repeat CCIW runner-up before placing third at conference in 1983-84, when he also repeated as a national qualifier. He posted marks of 26-11 in 1980-81, 24-4-1 in 1982-83 and 28-10-1 in 1983-84. Elmhurst compiled a .613 winning percentage (38-24) during his career. His wife, Patricia (Hand), is also a 1984 Elmhurst graduate.
