Ryan Knuppel was named the CCIW Player of the Year for the 2000-01 season after guiding the Elmhurst men's basketball team to its first-ever CCIW Championship. That same season, Knuppel helped the Bluejays advance to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament, earning All-America accolades.
Knuppel's name is written throughout the Elmhurst record book. He finished his career with 1,591 career points, the fifth-highest total in Elmhurst history. He is co-holder of the school's single-game record for three-pointers made (eight) along with the season record holder for best free throw percentage (95.6 percent in 1997-98). He established career records in free throw percentage (90.3 percent), and 3-pointers made (303).
A three-time all-conference selection (second team in 1998-99 and 1999-2000, first team in 2000-01), Knuppel holds the CCIW career record for free throw percentage at 93.4 percent.
A three-time academic all-conference selection, Knuppel also garnered Academic All-America honors from CoSIDA during the 2000-01 season.
