A 1992 graduate, Laurie Hesson Anderson was a two-time Female Athlete of the Year at Elmhurst who in 1992 led the Bluejays to school-best records of 25-8 overall and 12-1 in the CCIW, and their first CCIW Championship in women's softball as a right-handed pitcher and shortstop. Hesson Anderson was named CCIW Player of the Year in 1992 and All-CCIW first team in 1990-the same two years she was named Female Athlete of the Year and team MVP. A four-year letter-winner and .370 career hitter, she finished as Elmhurst's career and single-season leader in wins, appearances, starts, complete games, shutouts, earned run average, innings pitches and strikeouts. In 1992, Hesson Anderson set school records for wins (10-1) and ERA (0.30), and was among the top hitters (.368 batting average). She topped the 1990 Bluejays in hitting (.414). In 1989, (with a school record 150 innings/.302 BA) she led the Bluejays to their first CCIW Tournament berth. Hesson Anderson also was one of three Bluejays who played for an American all-star team in Belgium and the Netherlands in the summer of 1990.
