Jon Brehm becomes the first men’s soccer player to be inducted into Elmhurst’s Athletic Hall of Fame.
Brehm joined Elmhurst in 2007, three years after the team first began varsity competition in 2004. Four years later, he closed out his career as the most decorated men’s soccer player in school history, a distinction he continues to hold today.
Brehm earned first-team all-conference honors in all four years. He’s one of just two Elmhurst players to earn all-conference honors in four consecutive years and is the only Bluejay to earn first-team all-conference distinction four times. He was also tabbed to the NSCAA all-region squad three times in his career, earning first-team accolades in 2007, third-team honors in 2009 and second-team recognition in 2010.
A forward for the Bluejays, Brehm finished his career with multiple single-game, single-season and Elmhurst career records. He holds the top two spots on the Bluejays’ single-season goals list, scoring 16 during the 2008 season and 14 in the 2007 campaign. His 36 points off of 14 goals and eight assists in 2007 continues to be tied for the top single-season spot in Elmhurst history. He finished his career with 43 goals, 17 assists, nine match-winning goals and 103 points. His 43 goals scored and 103 points continue to hold the top spot in the Elmhurst career record book.
In 2009, Brehm helped the Bluejays post an undefeated 5-0-2 record in the CCIW and win their first-ever CCIW Championship in men’s soccer. Elmhurst also made its first-ever appearance in the NCAA Championship that season, falling in double overtime to Dominican. In Brehm’s four-years, the Bluejays finished with a combined 49-23-7 record, the best record of any four-year stretch in program history.
