A member of the inaugural Bluejay Backer Hall of Fame Class in 1980, Joel Herter was a standout basketball player for the Bluejays. 
Herter finished his playing career with 1,305 career points, ranking him second all-time in school history. A three-time all-conference selection, Herter earned first-team all-CCIW accolades once and was twice named to the league's all-conference second team.
