Elmhurst University Athletics

Grote, a 1955 graduate, was a standout tennis player from 1953 to 1955, helping to guide Elmhurst to its first CCIW tennis championship. In 1954, he won both singles and doubles championships at the conference level, and served as team captain during his senior year. In 1983 he returned to coach the College's tennis team to a third-place finish in the CCIW, which tied the best finish since the 50s.
