Elvis McCarter was crowned a national Champion at the 2000 NCAA Division III Track and Field Championships by winning the 800 meters.
In addition to his national championship, McCarter garnered numerous all-conference honors in his career. He also holds the school's outdoor (1:50.1) and indoor (1:52.87) 800-meter records. He also holds indoor records in the 400 meters (50.32) and the 1,000 meters (2:35.50). In addition, he is part of the school record holding 1,600-meter relay team (3:17.83) and the sprint medley relay team (3:29.07). He is also a member of 1,600-meter relay teams that rank second and fourth, respectively, in school history.
McCarter also holds top-five times in the outdoor 400 meters, the mile run, the 3,200-meter relay, the 6,400-meter relay and the distance medley relay.
