Dick Kroll defined the term "iron-man" football player. Kroll was twice named the Bluejays' Most Valuable Player in football after starting at left guard on offense and at middle-linebacker on defense. In addition, Kroll also served as the team's punter and still ranks among Elmhurst's top-10 in single season punt average.

A four-year letter-winner in football, Kroll was named an NAIA Regional All-American in 1964.
