A star on the baseball diamond for the Bluejays, Danko earned All-CCIW honors for four seasons and was a three-time all-region selection. He earned first-team All-CCIW distinction in 1995 and 1998 and was a second-team honoree in 1994 and 1997. He was named to the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) All-Central Region first team in 1995 and earned ABCA All-Central Region second-team honors in 1997 and 1998.

A great pitcher and hitter, Danko holds multiple single-season and career baseball records at Elmhurst. As a batter, he holds the career mark for most runs batted in (146), home runs (29), extra-base hits (71) and total bases (333). He also ranks third in hits (198), and at-bats (550), and fourth in doubles (36). He scored a combined 110 runs (ranks fifth) and finished as a career .360 hitter (ranks in the top-ten in team history).
