RIVER FOREST, Ill. - The Elmhurst men's track and field team totaled 35 points to place eighth at the Concordia University-Chicago Cougar Invitational.
Elmhurst placed eighth out of 18 squads. Lewis University took home first-place honors with 198 points.
Elmhurst totaled 14 points in the 1,000 meters with
Joe Rivas winning the even with a time of 2:40.42.
Nick Schulberg added a fifth-place finish in the event in 2:56.95.
The Bluejays' 4x800 squad of
Juan Castaneda,
Kevin Otte,
Nick Schulberg and
Anthony Avalos placed first in 8:54.65.
Dag Wiggin and Antonio Aguilera combined to total seven points in the 3,000 meters. Wiggin placed fourth in 9:26.56 while Aguilera placed seventh in 9:46.68.
Zach Taylor added four team points with a fifth-place finish in the javelin throw. Taylor recorded a toss of 42.73 meters.
Jacob Boyko added a 12th-place finish in the event with a 36.55 meter toss.
Jacob Boyko and
Ricardo Mora earned top-20 finishes in the discus. Boyko finished ninth with a throw of 37.68 meters while Mora finished 10th with a mark of 36.95 meters.
Juan Castaneda earned a top-20 finish in the 1,500 meters by placing 16th in 4:20.72.
Ricardo Mora and Tony Rettig both earned top-20 finishes in the shot put. Mora placed 15th with an 11.63 meter toss while Rettig took home 20th place with a toss of 9.82 meters. Mora and
Ian Perkins added top-20 finishes in the hammer. Mora placed 17th (34.74 meters) while Perkins (31.90 meters) finished 19th.
