CHICAGO, Ill. - The Elmhurst men's track and field squad opened the outdoor portion of its schedule by tying for ninth place at the University of Chicago's Ted Haydorn Invitational.
Elmhurst totaled 22.5 points, tying with Triton College for ninth place out of 14 squads.
Juan Castaneda and
Scott Blaszak combined to total seven points in the 5,000 meters. Castenda totaled six points for the Bluejays with a third-place finish in 16:18.57 while Blaszak added a point with an eighth-place finish with a time of 16:50.25.
Elmhurst's 4x400 relay team of
Lucas Barnard,
Eric Chaidez,
Nick DeLuca and
Jacob Hubbard added two team points with a 12th-place finish in 3:49.44.
Elmhurst totaled 13.5 points in the throws.
David Michaels and
Ian Perkins totaled 7.5 points in the shot put. Michaels tied for third-place with a toss of 13.61 meters while Perkins finished in seventh place with a throw of 12.58 meters.
Jacob Boyko added two team points with a seventh-place finish in the discuss, recording a throw of 39.59 meters.
Zach Taylor scored four points in the javelin, placing fifth in the event with a throw of 42.83 meters.
Two other Bluejays added top 10-individual finishes in the meet. Hubbard scored a 10th-place finish in the 800 meters, placing 10th in 2:07.38.
Joe Rivas added competed in the 1,500 meters and secured 10th-place by crossing the finish line in 4:15.61.
Elmhurst competes at the Benedictine University Invitational on April 15.
