OSHKOSH, Wis. – The Elmhurst women's track and field team kicked off its 2017-18 season by placing fourth at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh Earlybird Invitational.
 
The Bluejays racked up 67 points to place fourth out of seven squads. UW-Oshkosh won the team title with 203 points while Carroll finished second with 99. Concordia (Wis.) placed third with 93 points.
 
Elmhurst totaled 27 points between the 600 and 800 meters, finishing the race in 1:44.93, good for 10 team points. Alisandra Mondrella was the top finisher for the Bluejays, placing first in the 600 meters. Elmhurst totaled 17 points in the 800 meters with three runners scoring top-five finishes. Isabella Wolke placed second in the event with a time of 2:34.60. Gabrielle Murdoch finished fourth (2:55.81) while Jennifer Herrera placed fifth (2:59.42).
 
Elmhurst totaled 16 points in the middle distance events. Jennifer Claudio scored eight points in the mile run with a second-place finish, crossing the finish line in 5:42.41. Becky Garcia finished two places behind in fourth place with a time of 6:08.42. Elita Spadlowski placed sixth in the 3,000 meters with a time of 11:57.83, registering three team points in the process.
 
In the hurdles and sprints, the Bluejays totaled nine points. Mariola Gorlicki totaled three points in the 60 meter hurdles by placing sixth with a time of 11.03 seconds. Kaitlyn Jordan finished just behind in 11.86 seconds, placing seventh in the event.  Alex Kuykendall added four points in the 60 meter dash, completing the race in 9.03 seconds.

The Bluejays' scored 13 points in the 4x400 relay with two squads. The team of Emilly Gilligan, Mondrella, Sarah Melone and Wolke placed second, crossing the finish line in 4:26.73. A squad comprised of Claudio, Garcia, Murdoch and Gorlicki placed fourth in the even with a time of 4:51.26.
 
Gorlicki added two points in the long jump, placing seventh with a mark of 14-5.
